Darwin knew the fossil record of his day didn’t support evolution, but he hoped it would get better as science found more and more facts. However, even though many new fact have been discovered, the fossil record still doesn’t support evolution. Let’s look at the facts. 

        Fact #1: The “Cambrian explosion” doesn’t show evidence of evolution. After Darwin’s book, scientist found rock dating back to the “Cambrian” rock layers (one of the rock layers on the supposed geologic column. They thought they should be able to see some of the very first stages of evolution taking place because the rocks were so “old.” What they found was a total surprise. They found what they call “bursts of life” which seemed to appear suddenly and came in many different kinds of living organisms. This dumbfounded them because there was already so much variation between animal kinds. They had expected to find simple organisms which were in the very first stages of evolution…not already fully evolved and complex living organisms. While this confuses evolutionist, creation have no problem explaining this. These were likely the fossils of the organisms which were on the bottom of the ocean when the flood occurred.  In summary, what they found was in direct contradiction with the theory of evolution. They did not find simple organism evolving.

 

            Fact #2: The complexity of the trilobite’s eye is yet another evidence for creation. According to evolution, the trilobite was one of the first creatures to evolve. How then, since the trilobite has one of the most complex eyes, was it one of the first creatures? It would seem that one of the first creatures to evolve would have one of the least complicated eyes.

 

              Fact #3: There is a lack of “transitional” fossils found in the fossil record. If evolution were true, there should be many transitional fossils. As it is, they are very few and even so-called transitional fossils can be explained. Sometimes they even lie about it like they did with the Piltdown man. There is no evidence for life gradually going up the ladder in complexity. What they are finding is random changes, not a gradual upward trend. Evolutionist Dr. Patterson sums it up nicely when writing to creationist Larry Sunderland when he had asked why he had not include any pictures of transitional fossils, “I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them. You suggest that an artist should be used to visualize such transformations, but where would he get the information from? I could not, honestly, provide it, and if I were to leave it to artistic license, would that not mislead the reader?” Thankfully, he is honest and least!! Unfortunately, not all are that way. He even knows that there aren’t any transitional fossils.

             Fact #4: There is evidence that the rock layers were laid down rapidly. Rock layers around the world are found with curves in them. They are curved without cracking which means they were laid down while they were still soft (if they were laid down while they were hard they would not bend without cracking). This agrees perfectly with the Bible. During or shortly after the flood, thick layers of sediments would have been layer down and then bent while they were still soft. Also, the lack of erosions and other disturbances between rock layers points to them being laid down quickly and before erosions could occur.
